“We always think there's enough time to do things with other people. Time to say things to them. And then something happens and then we stand there holding on to words like 'if'.”
I'm not certain how to write a review which does justice for this book. The more I read, the more I wanted to read. It is refreshing to know that great writing is not dead; far from it. There are certainly other authors as capable as Fredrik Backman, but none as unique in my opinion.
This is a story that's been done before. The emotional walls of a curmudgeon are eventually penetrated by his persistent and loving neighbors. But I would challenge that no one has done it better than Backman in A Man Called Ove.
This book just made my top three of all time. Awesome story.
