“But it is not bravery; I have no choice. I wake up and live my life. Don't you do the same?”
Historical Fiction, Literary Fiction
This book will take you on a unique journey. It is not so much about a war as it is about humanity. The character of humans. Anthony definitely understands something about that. But he does not tell a story, he shows us what it is like to live in a time, so far back, as to have become separated from the memories of it. True for all but a few who still live from that time. In this story you will become a part of each character and feel what they feel.
A slight spoiler alert. This book does not contain a happy ending, wrapped up in a bow of good feelings, to which we are so accustomed from our writers of today. It is a book about life lived; before a war, during a war, and the scares which follow the participants until their last days.
Great writer, great book.
