Prince of Thorns, by Mark Lawrence

Updated: Jan 11

“I’ll tell you now. That silence almost beat me. It’s the silence that scares me. It’s the blank page on which I can write my own fears. The spirits of the dead have nothing on it. The dead one tried to show me hell, but it was a pale imitation of the horror I can paint on the darkness in a quiet moment.”

Fantasy

My Review

Very unique story.

I enjoyed the way in which Mr. Lawrence approached fantasy in this story. I will be delving into the 2nd book straight away. I will admit it took me a while to get into this book. The writing is different, at times a little too much prose, perhaps. But I would encourage you to stay with the story. There is plenty of action, and by the end, understanding of what makes the Prince of Thorns.

Another great fantasy series awaits me! Looking forward to reading the next two in this trilogy.
